No appointment is required for students and scholars to ask quick questions (5-10 minutes). Walk-in hours are for brief questions that take about 5-10 minutes to answer or to drop off forms. In-depth discussion about employment, change of status, transfer should be done by appointment so we can ensure we are giving you the proper attention and advice.
Walk-in hours are as follows:

J-1 Scholar Check-in at ISSS for newly arriving Exchange Visitors
Monday through Friday, 9am to 10am. Please bring the following documents with you to check-in for yourself and any accompanying family members:
- Form DS-2019
- Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record.
This time is reserved for incoming J scholars and no appointment is needed for the check-in procedure. J-1 transfers from another U.S. institution should email firstname.lastname@example.org for an appointment.
In order to better serve our international students and scholars, we request that you make an appointment to speak with one of our international student and scholar advisors. Our advisors can assist you with issues related to F-1 or J-1 immigration status, cultural adjustment and other personal concerns.
