History
Realizing the need for understanding and communication between peoples of varying nationalities and cultures as methods of preserving world peace and hoping to increase international awareness, the University of North Carolina Class of 1938 is proud and happy to present to the University of North Carolina an endowment to further these aims.
Having matured during the second World War, having participated in the agonies which it produced, having witnessed the loss of life of its own members and their loved ones as a result of this war, having seen the world-wide suffering resulting from this conflict, and observing the continued tensions and conflicts between nations of the world, the Class of 1938 feels compelled to do what it can to prevent future world conflicts and to promote world peace.
For these reasons, the Class of 1938 makes its gift to its beloved University of North Carolina.
