ISSS has developed a course in Canvas, the University’s learning management system, for UNC International Students. This course contains recordings of pre-arrival information sessions, the ISSS online orientation modules, additional campus and community resources, and a calendar of upcoming events hosted by ISSS.

This course is a resource intended to provide helpful information that can assist students as they transition to life in the United States. This Canvas page is available to current and incoming international degree-seeking and non-degree exchange students at UNC Chapel Hill.

Incoming students should review the ISSS online orientation modules prior to arriving in the U.S. and attending the in-person orientation sessions.

To access the Canvas site, follow the instructions below to self-enroll in the course, or watch this video 

  • Access the Canvas site here 
  • Select “Onyen Login” and input your Onyen login information.   
  • You will automatically be directed to a new webpage containing an “Enroll in Course” button in the top right corner. 
  • Select “Enroll in Course” 
  • You will receive a message “You have successfully enrolled in UNC International Students” confirming your enrollment into the course. 
  • Navigate to the menu on the left side of your screen and select “courses,” then click on the “UNC International Students” course that populates to the right of the blue panel. 

If you are unable to access the course, please email our main office at isss@unc.edu.  Please include your PID and student classification (undergraduate, graduate, or exchange), and we will get you added to the course.

Please note that access to the course can only be granted once a student has officially matriculated into the University.
