International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) at UNC-Chapel is aware of the U.S. Department of State announcement issued on Sept. 6 regarding adjudicating nonimmigrant visa applicants in their country of nationality or residence. Additionally, ISSS has been closely monitoring proposed immigration-related regulations. Most regulations are published in proposed form with a 30- to 60-day public feedback period. Based on public input, various aspects of the proposed rule could be modified during the review and finalization process. The usual rulemaking process takes at least several months.
